Rainbows and Leopard and Leather OH MY! - DIY Accessories

Rainbows and Leopard and Leather OH MY! - DIY Accessories

So my fiance has 1 idea for every 20 I have for our wedding day, so when he has an idea I let him have it.  His number one request was to have all of his groomsmen wear a rainbow of suits.  Suits from Opposuits.

This was a bit shocking, but then again if you know him...it really wasn't.  See pic of him below.

I had to come up with a way for him to have his rainbow array of suits, but still keep it wedding-classy.  So I decided to have my girls wear black dresses.

That's him in the orange with his Best Man.

But black by itself would be pretty boring especially with my whole Rock 'N' Roll theme so I had to find some ways to amp it up.  Each of the girls will be accessorizing with the color to compliment the groomsman they stand with.  As you can see in the picture above, the ladies with wider dresses will be adding a petticoat for a pop of color, but I wanted to do something else for all of them that's really different.

I found a company called Shoes of Prey that does custom designed shoes. You get to pick every inch of the shoe with a variety of colors and materials.  I love animal print so I combined each of their colors with a furry print heel.

See swatches below

Then I started to think about what kind of jewelry they could wear, and I came up with this.  I'm hand-making guitar pick earrings with some picks I had lying around and adorning them with Swarovski crystals. These are only 4 of the 6 colors so far.  They're turning out so fabulous I may do them for myself and our mothers.  If you like what you see check them out at my Etsy store.

I'm super excited to have Sweet Tooth Confections making all the cupcakes for our big day!  They're local out of San Jose and have a crazy variety of flavors to choose from.  We're outfitting them with our custom guitar picks so people can grab a sweet at the end of the night and take a souvenir home with them.  If you like flavor and creativity, you'll love what this husband and wife duo has to offer!

Are You For Real???

Are You For Real???

Going with a theme-centric wedding makes it easy to do things a little...different!  We recently took a spontaneous trip to Disneyland which prompted us to have our first caricature done.  I asked if they could make us into 80's glam-rock stars rather than Disney characters and this was the outcome.  Big shout out to artist Brooke.

It turned out so great (and he really nailed my waist line ;-)  so it will be framed at our wedding for friends to sign!

Are You VIP?

Are You VIP?

What good is a rock 'n' roll wedding if you don't have VIP Access?  Not to worry, all of our guests are VIP which is why they'll be receiving these exclusive passes inviting them to our wedding.  Forget a traditional paper invitation, VIP lanyard all the way and at only $1.30 a piece you'll save cash and do something totally different that people won't forget...or throw away!

Dual-Purpose Party Favors that won't Break the Bank

Dual-Purpose Party Favors that won't Break the Bank

They make for great decor and a nice takeaway, guitar pics!  We ordered 200 custom picks for about 50 bucks!  We put the logo I designed for our wedding along with the name and date.  We'll be putting them in the cupcakes for dessert and then people can take them home with them!

It's a perfect touch to a rock n' roll wedding and our music-enthusiast friends will love them!  I also plan to make earrings with the extras for my bridesmaids and add Swarovski crystals !

Save the Dates That Won't Get Thrown Away.

Save the Dates That Won't Get Thrown Away.

I'm a videographer for a living so it's no surprise to folks who know me that I would incorporate as much video as possible into our wedding planning process.  We created this fun and engaging wedding invite with not a whole lot of extra effort, plus we got to share more of our engagement photos rather than just limiting us to a few on a card, which may eventually get tossed in the trash.

We had someone follow us around during our engagement photo shoot to capture all the fun little moments in between which in turn told a story.  You can do this by telling how you met or maybe a fun activity you enjoy doing together.  We sent ours out about 2 weeks ago and the outpour of comments have been amazing, here's a few of my faves:  "This made my eyes tear up, this is so you two!" , "You guys are so creative, I can't wait to celebrate with y'all!" , " This made me want to drink bourbon and own a Mustang!"

Press play.

We embedded this into a page on our website and added a button to a Google Form to collect guest's physical addresses...cause this day in age who has them?  But we all have emails, so this was an excellent way to gather everyone's deets and share our Save the Date.  It also saves money on stamps and printing!

Mustangs, Leather and Chaps: Our Rockin' Engagement Session

When I thought about what our engagement session would look like, it needed to be anything but cliche.  I couldn't see us running around a field or beach...because that's just not what we do on our spare time.  What do we do?  We cruise around in our topless mustangs, crash rock shows, drink bourbon and rock out!  So that's what we did.
