In the summer of 2011, Farran wisely decided against living near her new job in Mt. View and rented an awesome place in Downtown San Jose. On her first weekend in town, she brought her soon-to-be-ex, and future bridesmaid Jen bar hopping in her new neighborhood to check out the local watering holes. That same night, Ashton and his roommate Chris decided it was a great night to head downtown and attempt to meet ladies...or more accurately, Chris would talk to girls and Ashton would not screw it up.
After a bit, Chris pointed to his partially empty beer and said "I have about to here till I'm no longer good at talking to girls" . He saw Farran and Jen sitting at a table and opened with a clever line about them stealing our table. Farran, who just got into town and wanted to meet people, refused to give up her table, but asked us to join instead. As the night went on, we bought way too many rounds of drinks and talked all night.
In typical Farran fashion, when it was last call, she immediately offered her home up to an after-party. Chris took a phone call outside and locked himself out and Ashton's phone was dead, so Ashton ended up sleeping on Farran's floor that night. The next day, future-ex was hungover in bed, and Jen involved in long phone call outside. Farran and Ashton hung out all morning just talking about rock and roll, travel, life and adventures. A sign of things to come.
The following weeks Ashton was happy to show Farran around town, seeing local shows (including the last awesome Music in the Park featuring Led Zepagain) and introduce her to a lot of you reading this. During this time Farran realized it wasn't going to work out with that other guy and started developing a crush on Ashton. Luckily Ashton had similar feelings; one night after another silly karaoke evening, Farran and Ashton had their first kiss.
Although things were a little rocky those first couple years, the bonds that would hold them together through good times and bad were formed. This wedding will be the ceremonial culmination of their lives together, and a sign of even better times to come.
